Enfermedad periodontal y tabaquismo en jóvenes

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo entre 2006 y 2008, con el objetivo de describir el comportamiento  de la enfermedad periodontal en jóvenes de 15 a 18 años con hábito de fumar de la zona urbana del área de salud de la Policlínica Darío Calzadilla. Se estudiaron los 71 jóvenes fumadores de 15 a 18 años identificados. La mayor cantidad de sujetos tenía 18 años de edad, el sexo que prevaleció fue el masculino. El mayor porcentaje de jóvenes fumadores se clasificó como fumadores ligeros. Más de la mitad de los jóvenes con hábito de tabaquismo presentaban afecciones periodontales. La gingivitis leve prevaleció en el fumador ligero. La condición de inflamación gingival que rodea completamente los dientes predominó en el fumador moderado y en el gran fumador.

ABSTRACT

A descriptive study between 2006 and 2008 was carried out, with the aim of describing the behavior of periodontal disease and smoking habit in patients between 15 and 18, of the urban area of Dario Calzadilla polyclinic. Seventy one cases were studied. Most of them aged 18 years old, prevailing male sex. The highest percentage of young smokers were classified as light ones. More than half of them had periodontal disease. The mild gingivitis prevailed in  light smokers. The inflammation around the completely teeth predominated in moderate and the severe smokers.
