Peloidoterapia y acupunturoterapia en afecciones del sistema osteomioarticular

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio cuasi-experimental con el objetivo de sistematizar el uso de peloides mineromedicinales y acupunturoterapia en diversas afecciones del sistema osteomioarticular de causa traumática y no traumática en el Servicio de Medicina Física y Rehabilitación del Hospital General Docente Vladimir I. Lenin, de Holguín, en el periodo 2009 - 2011. De un total de 1 399 de pacientes, 137  abandonaron el tratamiento y 40 no cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Se formaron dos grupos de estudio con un total de 611 pacientes cada uno, a  un grupo  se le aplicó peloidoterapia y al otro acupunturoterapia, se realizaron hasta 10 y de 10 a 20 sesiones. En ambos grupos, los resultados del tratamiento con peloidoterapia y  acupunturoterapia fueron positivos, pero más significativos lo fueron para el grupo que recibió peloidoterapia, donde  predominó el sexo femenino. La enfermedad más frecuente fue la osteoartritis degenerativa primaria. Los tratamientos utilizados son de fácil aplicación, escaso nivel de riesgo y bajo costo económico.

ABSTRACT

A quasi-experimental study was performed in order to systematize the use of mineral peloids and in acupuncture therapies for osteomioarticular system of traumatic and nontraumatic in the Service of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Vladimir Ilich Lenin Hospital in Holguín in the period from 2009 to 2011, in 1399 patients, of whom 137 discontinued treatment and 40 did not have the inclusion criteria. A sample was divided in two groups of 611 patients each one, one group was given peloids tharapy and the other one acupuncture. Between 10 and 20 sessions were given. Satisfactory results were obtained in both groups, especially for the group of peloids therapy, where prevailing females. Primary degenerative osteoarthritis was the predominant disease. Significant was the easy application of both methods, the low level of risk and low economic cost.
