Abstract

Couples therapy has been the subject of study in multiple disciplines due to its potential to improve the mental health and emotional stability of the individuals involved. Its fundamental purpose is to expose the influence of this intervention on the psychological well-being of individuals and emotional stability of the couple. For this purpose, a rigorous literature review was conducted, based on the selection and evaluation of empirical and theoretical studies relevant to the field of couple’s psychotherapy. The findings show that this therapeutic modality favors the reduction of symptoms associated with depression and anxiety, while promoting greater emotional stability in participants. Likewise, its contribution to improving communication and conflict resolution within relationships, key elements in maintaining mental health, is highlighted. In conclusion, couples therapy is established as an effective clinical strategy for addressing emotional and relational difficulties; the need to integrate it into psychological interventions aimed at the overall well-being of individuals is vitally important.
