Strategies for the Management of Dental Emergencies

One of the main reasons for consultation in daily clinical practice is dental emergencies, so their proper management is essential to alleviate painful symptoms, optimize the prognosis of the case, and ensure the patient's well-being. The objective of this study was to analyze and describe the approach to the main dental emergencies from a clinical and pharmacological perspective, providing a comprehensive approach based on scientific evidence. To this end, a descriptive literature review was conducted of 24 scientific articles published in the last five years, obtained from specialized databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Elsevier. The results showed that an accurate diagnostic evaluation, combined with the use of updated protocols, allows for the establishment of effective therapeutic strategies for the management of dental emergencies, including oral infections, dental trauma, and the appropriate use of analgesics. In conclusion, this research compiles relevant information on best practices in the treatment of dental emergencies and highlights the importance of timely intervention to achieve the appropriate clinical outcomes for patients.
