The present study analyzed the relationship between the use of psychoactive substances and tooth loss in individuals undergoing rehabilitation at the “Fe y Esperanza” foundation, with emphasis on the implications of this phenomenon on oral health. Factors such as poor oral hygiene, increased incidence of caries and periodontitis, which, in the long term, favor tooth loss, were identified. The purpose of the study was to establish the relationship between drug use and oral health deterioration in this vulnerable population. Methodologically, a non-experimental and descriptive approach with direct observation was adopted, for which a field research design was applied. The sample included 30 selected participants, from a total population of 102 individuals in rehabilitation, during the period from November 2023 to April 2024. Structured questionnaires and informative lectures were used to assess the impact of chemicals on oral health. The results revealed a high prevalence of partial edentulism, evidencing the need to implement educational strategies on the effects of drug use in the oral cavity. It was determined that the most consumed substances were marijuana (30 %), cocaine (29 %) and heroin (11 %), identified as the main agents associated with dental loss.
