Dental students and the utilization of CAD/CAM as a digital tool in their education
Abstract
CAD/CAM software has transformed the planning and execution of dental treatments and works in conjunction with various types of digital scanners. The objective of this work is to analyze the perspective of the use of CAD/CAM technology as a digital tool in the teaching-learning process, by the students of the seventh, ninth and tenth semesters of the Dentistry course at the Universidad Regional Autónoma de Los Andes, in the academic period May - September 2023.
The information was obtained through a field study, since a survey was applied to a sample population of 267 students. The results showed that 70.3% are familiar with digital flow, 53.1% have received training in digital flow in dentistry, 4.7% have a 3D printer in their faculty, 9.4% mentioned that their faculty has CAD/CAM software for their treatments and 98.4% believe it is necessary to incorporate CAD/CAM training in the teaching-learning process.
