Optimization of nursing strategies for strengthening the promotion of sexual and reproductive health

Introduction: Sexual and reproductive rights constitute a fundamental pillar within the framework of universal human rights, guaranteeing that every individual can exercise their sexuality freely, with full information, and autonomously from childhood. In this context, the work of nursing personnel acquires an essential role in promoting sexual and reproductive health, facilitating access to evidence-based information and promoting safe and responsible practices. Objective: To systematize best nursing practices to strengthen the promotion of sexual and reproductive health in Ecuador. Methods: A systematic review was carried out, employing theoretical and analytical-synthetic methods. Scientifically relevant documents were analyzed, applying a systemic approach that allowed for the identification of effective strategies in the educational and community settings. Results: A total of 35 documents were analyzed. The need for updated and ongoing training for nursing professionals is highlighted, along with the limited dissemination of information by educational institutions and families. Positive communication between patients and healthcare personnel is emphasized as a best practice in nursing, as is the implementation of educational tools that promote sexual health education within families and communities. Conclusions: Systematizing best practices strengthens the educational and preventative role of nursing staff, contributing to the reduction of teenage pregnancies and to informed decision-making.
