Abstract

Oral squamous cell carcinoma in situ (SCCIS) is a rare premalignant condition with significant implications for early diagnosis and appropriate treatment. This brief review discusses the clinical aspects of SCCIS, highlighting its clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, and the role of biopsies in confirming the diagnosis. A case report is presented of a patient diagnosed with oral SCCIS, detailing the diagnostic approach, surgical treatment, and postoperative progression. The case results emphasize the importance of early detection in preventing progression to invasive squamous cell carcinoma. The review underscores the relevance of early identification of high-risk lesions in the oral cavity to improve patient prognosis.
