Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) is one of the most significant obstetric complications due to its link with maternal and neonatal morbidity. This updated review explores recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, focusing on evidence-based clinical practice. Key diagnostic tools include the fern test, specific immunoassays, and ultrasound, offering increased accuracy. Management strategies vary depending on gestational age, emphasizing infection prevention and labor control. The cautious use of antibiotics, corticosteroids, and individualized monitoring has been shown to improve perinatal outcomes. Continuous education of healthcare professionals on international protocols is crucial to reduce complications and ensure timely and effective care. This comprehensive approach enhances clinical decision-making across diverse healthcare settings, contributing to improved obstetric care quality.Downloads
