Abstract

The vaginal microbiome plays a crucial role in women's reproductive health, serving as a key component in infection prevention, immune system regulation, and the modulation of vaginal mucosal function. An imbalance in this microbial flora can lead to various conditions such as recurrent infections, vaginal dysbiosis, and pregnancy complications. This article reviews the clinical implications of the vaginal microbiome, highlighting its influence on conditions like bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis, and its association with preterm births. Additionally, it explores emerging therapeutic strategies, such as the use of probiotics and vaginal microbiome transplantation, which offer new perspectives to restore microbial balance and improve reproductive health. Ongoing research into this field promises to transform therapeutic and preventive approaches in gynecology and obstetrics.
