Abstract
Introduction: There is a need to increase the skills of the Comprehensive General Medicine specialist in the clinical approach to cardiovascular risk.
Objective: To describe the level of professional performance of the Comprehensive General Medicine specialist in the care of cardiovascular risk.
Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in 27 Comprehensive General Medicine specialists, who work in the family doctor's offices of Ramón López Peña Polyclinic, in the period from January to June 2024. The following were used as characterization variables: professional performance and its assistance dimensions, communication skills, scientific-research and bioethical improvement. Historical-logical, analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive theoretical methods were used to collect information and substantiate the research. From the empirical level: the questionnaire. Descriptive statistics techniques were used (number and percentage).
Results: The indicators show that the respondents have little mastery of the care dimension (89% ≤ x ≥ 70%), while they have mastery of the communicative and bioethical dimensions (100≤x≥ 90), however the frequency of never predominated in the improvement and scientific-investigative dimensions. The final analysis of this instrument showed that the variable obtains a value of 68.4% and qualifies in the decision table as not mastered.
Conclusions: The characterization of the current state of the professional performance of specialists in comprehensive general medicine reveals the limitations in the care of the patient with cardiovascular risk, with a greater impact on the improvement and scientific-research dimensions.
