Peer Review Process
Peer review process
Upon receipt of a new submission, the CCM journal generates an acknowledgement of receipt to the author who has been designated as responsible for the correspondence, with the title of the manuscript and its identification number (ID), essential for the follow-up of the editorial process.
In a period of 15 days, an initial review is performed by the Editorial Committee to determine if the work corresponds to the field of interest of the journal and if it presents the structure and content according to the Publication Standards that allow the peer review process to begin.
If it does not comply with any of these aspects, it will be rejected. If it complies with these characteristics, the manuscript will be passed to the peer review process.
The CCM evaluation system uses the review of each manuscript by two independent referees.
The body of referees of the journal has been selected so that they do not belong to its Editorial Board, according to the area of expertise declared by them.
The review by the referees helps the Editor and the Editorial Committee to decide the articles to be published in the journal and improves the quality of the published articles.
This review is open, so that the referees know the identity of the authors. In the same way, authors have access to the revisions made to their manuscripts.
Referees may refuse to review a paper. They have five days to accept or reject the request for arbitration, whatever their decision is, they must make it known to the editor through the journal's platform.
If the manuscript is not accepted, it will be assigned to another referee. The same procedure will be followed when the established review deadline is not met.
These deadlines consist of:
- Five days to accept or reject the arbitration.
- 14 days to carry out the review, which may be extended for a maximum of seven days in cases that require it.
Referees should notify the editor assigned to the manuscript at the time they finish their review, so that it is communicated to the authors within 72 hours.
The referees with the best performance will receive recognition from the journal.
Authors have a maximum of 21 days to submit the modifications requested by the referees.
In case of contradiction between the authors and the referees, or between the referees, they will be resolved through the mediation of the assigned editor, who may request the criteria of experts in the subject of the manuscript.
If the author does not have the possibility of making the necessary modifications for any justified reason, he/she should inform the editor responsible for the submission, who will determine the additional deadlines to be granted.
If the author does not communicate to establish a new deadline, the manuscript will be archived, i.e., it will be rejected, so that, in case of a request, the editorial process should begin as a new submission.
Once the reviewers' conclusions are available, the editor will make a decision on the article, which may be:
- Publishable
- Publishable with modifications
- Reassessable
- Not publishable
CCM employs the open peer review system, in accordance with open science. For this reason, the original articles must be accompanied by the primary data files.
This file should contain the data of the subjects investigated, without their identification and without statistical processing, so that they are available to reviewers, editors and other personnel interested in verifying the procedures used.
The format of this file is in Excel 2003 (.xls), since the platform does not accept the modern format (.xlsx).
The observations and suggestions of the Editorial Board and reviewers will be sent to the responsible author, who should respond as soon as possible (21 days).
Basic criteria for evaluation
The final decision on the publication of a contribution is the exclusive responsibility of the Editorial Committee, which reserves the right to choose the articles to be published, as well as to make the necessary stylistic modifications, while respecting the original content.
Publication Frequency
The journal has adopted the modality of continuous publication by annual volumes, which means that as the papers are completed, they will appear online.
The journal publishes about 80 articles in each volume, issue, 65% of which are original articles, (52).
The volume should be completed in the first half of December.
