Intervención educativa sobre las infecciones de transmisión sexual y VIH/sida en los adolescentes

Resumen

Se estudiaron 70  adolescentes entre 10 y 19 años, pertenecientes a un consultorio médico de la familia del área de salud de la Policlínica Mario Muñoz Monroy de Vertientes, previo consentimiento de los adolescentes, en el periodo comprendido entre  el primero de junio de 2007 y el 31 de mayo de 2008, con el objetivo de evaluar su efectividad para reducir el riesgo de contraer una infección de transmisión sexual y VIH-sida. Se observó inicialmente un conocimiento adecuado sobre cómo evitar infecciones de transmisión sexual entre los adolescentes estudiados; no obstante dicho conocimiento se incrementó con posterioridad a la intervención, así como su protección contra este tipo de enfermedades. Incrementar  las acciones de  promoción y prevención de salud es importante para aumentar el conocimiento de los adolescentes sobre el tema y desarrollar un trabajo interdisciplinario en la comunidad.

ABSTRACT

A total of 70 adolescents between 10 and 19 years, of a Family Office of Mario Muñoz Monroy health area, previous informed consent, between June 1st and 2007 May 31st of 2008,  with the objective of evaluating the effectiveness of educational intervention to increase the knowledge on the risks on acquiring sexually transmitted infections and HIV-aids, were studied. There was an adequate level of knowledge in the adolescents on how to avoid the infections. This knowledge improved after the intervention was applied as well as the adolescents´ behavior on the diseases prevention. The authors proposed to increase the health actions on preventing and promoting these infections aimed at improving the adolesecnts´ knowledge on the topic and to develop an interdisciplinary work in the community.
