Estudio clínico y anatomopatológico de biopsias prostáticas en pacientes atendidos en la Unidad Funcional Urooncológica

ABSTRACT
A retrospective descriptive study between 2004 and 2009 in the patients attended at Oncology- Urology Service of Vladimir I. Lenin Hospital was performed. A transrectal prostate biopsy was done as well as a digital rectal examination. The anatomicopathological results were analized an a relationship was established between the clinical and biochemical parameters used before. A total of 960 patients referred from Primary Health Care a posible diagnosis of prostate adenocarcinoma, is studied. The transrectal prostate biopsy was performed in each patient in order to obtain from two to six cylindrical samples according to individual criteria. Biopsy results were compared to patient´s age. Most frequent histological stage according to Gleason Classification and to the result of the digital rectal examination are studied. Prostate specific antigen was determined and its relation to prostatic tumors, besides of the complication of transrectal prostate biopsy. The 87% of patients with positive biopsy were over 70 years, the moderate diferenciated adenocarcinoma was found in 391 cases, the positive digital rectal examination matched with biopsy results in 96% of cases, Prostate specific antigen was positive in 82% of cases, and the most frequent complication was the rectal bleeding.
