Actualización sobre la prevención del cáncer bucal

Resumen

Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre la prevención del cáncer bucal con el objetivo de obtener información actualizada sobre la realización de acciones preventivas contra el cáncer, una enfermedad que se caracteriza por la carencia de síntomas definitorios en las etapas iniciales y que si no se diagnostica de manera temprana puede conducir a la muerte. El Programa nacional de diagnóstico del cáncer bucal establece una serie de actividades para prevenir el cáncer bucal, entre ellas: el cambio de estilos de vida, las dietas saludables, el abandono de los hábitos tóxicos, así como el examen y autoexamen bucal. Su detección temprana produce una reducción significativa de la mortalidad, e incrementa las probabilidades de  curación y supervivencia.

ABSTRACT

 

A bibliographical revision on prevention of oral cancer was carried out. This study was aimed at contributing to offer up-to-date information on the prevention of oral cancer which is a serious health problem that is characterized by the lack of symptoms in the initial stages and should the early dianosis should be made. The National Program of Diagnosis of the Buccal Cancer establishes a series of activities to prevent this disease. The main measures to prevent it are to change the lifestyles, to establish healthy diets, the abandonment of the toxic habits and to do the oral self examination. The early detection of oral cancer causes a significant reduction of the mortality, and it increases the care and survival.
