Estrategias educativas para la prevención de las infecciones de trasmisión sexual en adolescentes

Introducción: la epidemia del VIH/sida en Cuba, se caracteriza por un aumento lento y sostenido, con mayor incidencia en el último quinquenio y en jóvenes entre los 15 a 29 años.
Objetivo: identificar las estrategias que se desarrollan en Cuba para la prevención de las infecciones de transmisión sexual en los jóvenes.
Métodos: se realizó la revisión documental de los programas nacionales y entrevistas estructuradas al grupo de jóvenes estudiados.
Resultados: los programas dirigidos a los jóvenes estuvieron encaminados al desarrollo de conocimientos y comportamientos sexuales saludables. Las estrategias más empleadas fueron: educación, capacitación, consejerÃa y campañas, se confeccionaron medios de enseñanza que fueron utilizados en las actividades realizadas. Los jóvenes encuestados mostraron un buen nivel de conocimientos sobre las vÃas de transmisión y las formas de reducir el riesgo de infectarse por las ITS/VIH/sida, sin embargo existieron criterios negativos en el uso sistemático del condón.
Conclusiones: los jóvenes y adolescentes en Cuba se han beneficiados con el Proyecto Ronda 6, los Programa Nacional de Prevención y Control del VIH/sida y las acciones que se han realizado al respecto. Se comprobó que a pesar del nivel de conocimientos que poseen los jóvenes sobre las ITS/VIH/sida, no son sistemáticos en el uso del condón en todas las relaciones sexuales. Las actividades  educativas y capacitaciones a este grupo etéreo se les deben reforzar las técnicas de reflexión, debates y análisis en cada escenario donde se desarrollen, incluyendo las actividades comunitarias.

Introduction: the epidemic of the HIV/AIDS in Cuba is characterized by a slow and sustained increase, with more incidences in the last five year and in youths among 15 and 29 years.
Objective: to identify the strategies that is developed in Cuba for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections in the youths.
Methods: document review of the national programs was carried out as well as the application of structured interview to the group of studied youths.
Results: the programs directed to the youths were guided to the development of knowledge and healthy sexual behaviors. The most used strategies were: education, training, and campaigns. Teaching media were made that were used in the activities development. The interviewed youths showed a good level of knowledge on the transmission ways and the forms of reducing the risk for those infected by the STIs/HIV/AIDS, however negative approaches existed in the systematic use of the condom.
Conclusions: the youths and adolescents in Cuba have benefitted with the Project Ronda 6, which is the National Program of Prevention and Control of the HIV/AIDS and the actions that have been carried out. It proved that in spite of the level of knowledge that the youths have on the STI/HIV/AIDS, they are not systematic in the use of the condom for sexual intercourse. The educational activities and trainings should be reinforced for this age group including the community activities.
